We understand that having an abusive partner who is getting help can be a big factor in whether you stay in the relationship or return when you might have decided to separate.
We also know that, in some cases, men who are getting help deny, minimise or justify their abusive behaviour, and some make false claims to their partners about their attendance or their counsellor’s recommendations. The safety of women in abusive relationships is always our first concern. That is why we have set up a Women’s Service. We will have regular contact with you, either by telephone or in person, and can offer the following -
- assessing your risk
- gauge your partner’s commitment to changing
- provide you with information about legal and support services
- offer counselling
- discuss the speed and likelihood of your partner changing
